Cape's five homers too much for Hoots

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Joe Roscetti was on fire on Thursday night.

So were the Cape Catfish.

Roscetti, a Quincy University incoming sophomore, finished 4 for 4 against Cape at Capaha Stadium but the Catfish combined for 10 hits and five home runs to earn a 9-3 Prospect League victory.

It was the fourth inning that put the game away for Cape (30-13) as the Catfish went off for six runs, including a three-run home run by Taylor Pridgen and a two-run shot by Julian Pedrouzo, one of two dingers on the day for Pedrouzo.

Roscetti did what he could, but he accounted for four of the Hoots' five hits. He led off the top of the fourth with a double and was eventually brought home on a sacrifice fly by Kyler Kent, then in the eighth Roscetti blasted a two-run home run to make it a 9-3 deficit, his seventh dinger of the year.

Kyle Rosenfeld picked up the loss for the Hoots (15-27), allowing six hits and six earned runs in 3 2/3 innings of work. Hunter Knox, also a QU incoming sophomore, pitched four innings of relief while allowing four hits and one run with eight strikeouts.

With the victory, the Catfish are the first team to reach 30 wins in the Prospect League this season.
