QUINCY -- Homeward Bound Waggin will host its sixth annual Homeward Bound Dog Days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at the Quincy Mall.

Entry is free for people and dogs. Events include pet games, silent auctions, raffles, peanut butter-licking competitions, musical sit contests and vendors.

New this year is the Radical Ruger vs. Tardis Terrier trick showdown. Dog owners can enter dogs in the Doggie Dash. The Doxie Derby is designed for dachshunds. There also is a Puppy Rookie Race and Small Breed Mixed Breed Race.

In the afternoon, all dogs can compete in the Quincy's Best Rescue Dog Competition.

There is a $12 registration fee for both the Doggie Dash and the Quincy's Best Rescue Dog Competition. The fee includes an event T-shirt, goodie bag and raffle ticket.

All proceeds benefit Homeward Bound Waggin Inc.

No retractable leads are allowed, and all dogs must be friendly to other dogs and people.

The new Pet Adoption Center operated by Homeward Bound Waggin in the mall also will be open Saturday.
