Five vie for Miss Adams County Fair Queen

MENDON, Ill. -- Five contestants will compete for the title of 2019 Miss Adams County Fair Queen during the annual queen pageant Wednesday night at the Adams County Fairgrounds near Mendon.

The 2019 Little Miss and Mr. Adams County Pageant starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday, followed by the 2019 Miss Adams County Fair Queen Pageant at 7 p.m. Contestants will compete in areas of interview, speech and stage presence.

The reigning Miss Adams County Fair Queen, Madelyn Heinecke, is the daughter of Amy Heinecke and John and Annette Heinecke of Clayton. She is working as a field biologist intern for the summer at BASF Midwest Research Farm in Seymour. Heinecke graduated from John Wood Community College with an associate degree in science with agricultural emphasis and is attending Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She is expected to graduate in May with a bachelor's degree in crop, soil and environmental management with a minor in agricultural systems technology management. Heinecke plans to pursue a career in agricultural sciences and to help her father on the farm.

Contestants are:

Cheyenne Marie DeWeese, 17, daughter of Richard and Jan DeWeese of Liberty, sponsored by Gully Transportation, Jeff Kroencke of Country Financial and Booher Automotive.

Kailyn Mast, 19, daughter of Gary and Gail Mast of Fowler, sponsored by Bergman Nurseries.

Brooke Walbring, 18, daughter of Matt and Lori Walbring of Quincy, sponsored by Titan International and Custom Turf Inc.

Kayla Walker, 18, daughter of Chris and Sheila Walker and John and Tara Moffitt of Quincy, sponsored by Coach House restaurant.

Lauren White, 19, daughter of Brian and Donna White of Golden, sponsored by County Contractors.

The fifth annual Sweetheart of Adams County Pageant also will take place during the evening. The pageant provides an opportunity for people of all ages with intellectual or physical disabilities to experience being a queen or king for a day.
