QUINCY -- Law enforcement officials arrested an Ohio man Monday in Quincy in connection with the theft of a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze from Ohio.
Illinois State Police received a call around 8:30 a.m. Monday of a stolen vehicle spotted in the area of 54th and Broadway in Quincy. A trooper located the vehicle in the Shottenkirk Toyota parking lot. As the trooper approached the vehicle, the driver fled on foot into a nearby wooded area.
A perimeter was established around the area with help from the Illinois Secretary of State Police, the Quincy Police Department and the Adams County Sheriff's Department.
The search for the suspect ended about 2:30 p.m. Monday when authorities arrested Erik S. Grant, 34, of Saint Marys, Ohio, who was taken into custody without incident inside Walmart.
Grant was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest, driving while license suspended and shoplifting.
Grant was taken to the Adams County Jail pending his first court appearance.
