Applications open for QPD Citizen Police Academy

QUINCY -- The Quincy Police Department is taking applications for the fall 2019 Citizen Police Academy class. This class, which is 10 weeks in length, starts Wednesday, Sept. 4.

During this class, participants will not only learn about all aspects of the Quincy Police Department, but will also have an opportunity to participate in hands on activities. Some of the class topics include, Street Crimes Unit, DUI practical and mock vehicle stops, gangs, Emergency Response Team, crime scene investigation,and drug enforcement. There also is an optional range day and class participants can ride along with a QPD officer.

Class time is 6 to 9 p.m. and most classes are held at Quincy City Hall. There is no charge to attend.

To be eligible for the course, applicants must live, work or go to school, or own property in Quincy. Applicants must also be at least 18 years of age.
