MEMPHIS, Mo. -- Two people were injured Friday in a two-vehicle crash east of Memphis.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said that a 2007 Chevrolet Uplander driven by Richard W. Fischer, 61, of Memphis, was traveling west on U.S. 136, 8 miles east of Memphis, at 6:45 p.m., attempting to make a right turn. The patrol said the Uplander was struck in the rear by a 1998 Chevrolet 1500 pickup driven by Floyd O. Hartley, 55, of Downing.

Fischer and a passenger, Nancy L. Domke, 67, of Wyaconda, were taken by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Hospital with moderate injuries.

Fischer and Domke were wearing seat belts, but Hartley was not, the patrol said.

The patrol was assisted by the Scotland County Sheriff's Department, Memphis Police Department and Gorin First Responders.
