HULL, Ill. -- Two people were injured early Saturday when a semi overturned after the driver swerved to avoid a deer.

Illinois State Police said a 2015 Freightliner truck tractor, driven by Ignacio R. Frias IV, 23, of Prince George, Va., and pulling a 2019 Hyundai semi-trailer, was traveling west on Interstate 72 at milepost 11 at 3 a.m. ISP said Frias swerved to miss a deer, lost control and entered the median causing the truck to overturn.

Frias, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. A passenger, Estele R. Neely, 38, of Mount Morris, Mich., was asleep in the sleeper berth and sustained minor injuries.

Frias was cited for improper lane usage.

ISP was assisted by Pike County Sheriff's Department, Hull-Kinderhook Fire Protection District, Pike County EMS and Heartland Towing.
