Two Hannibal residents injured in crash

HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Two Hannibal residents were injured in a Wednesday afternoon crash at the intersection of Veterans Road and Marion County Road 412.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said that a 2007 Ford Taurus driven by Patricia L. Smith, 83, of Hannibal, was traveling east on County Road 412 at 3:48 p.m., failed to yield at the intersection to a northbound 2004 Ford F-350 driven by Jay C. Cookson, 50, of Hannibal, and was struck.

Smith, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Marion County Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital with minor injuries. Cookson, who also was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Marion County Ambulance to Hannibal Regional with moderate injuries.

The patrol was assisted by the Marion County Sheriff's Department, Hannibal Rural Fire Department and Marion County Ambulance.
