Dallas City man arrested after reported vehicle pursuit

CARTHAGE, Ill. -- A Dallas City man was arrested Monday after he reportedly led police on a vehicle pursuit.

Eric M. Gilpin, 44, was arrested on charges of aggravated fleeting or attempting to elude a peace officer, driving on a revoked license, possession of methamphetamine and multiple traffic violations.

The Hancock County Sheriff's Department said deputies responded at 11:11 p.m. to a report of a vehicle pursuit involving the Carthage Police Department. The department said officers converges on the vehicle and arrested the driver, identified as Gilpin, after a minor crash.

Gilpin refused medical treatment at the scene and was taken to the Hancock County Jail.

Also assisting were the Hamilton and Nauvoo police departments and the Illinois State Police.
