Rutledge man seriously injured when struck by car

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. -- A suicidal Rutledge man was struck by a car Tuesday night in Adair County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said that William R. Schoolcraft, 29, was kneeling in the driving lane of Mo. 11, about one-half mile north of Route J South, at 6:08 p.m. and was struck by a 2006 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Andrew M. Couch, 33, of Edina.

Schoolcraft was flown by Air Evac to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.

The patrol was assisted by the Adair County Sheriff's Department, Adair County EMS and Adair County First Responders.
