QUINCY -- The Quincy High School volleyball team went 1-1 in a Western Big Six Conference triangular in the QHS gym on Saturday.
The Blue Devils fell to defending WB6 champs Moline in straight sets, 25-17, 25-21, but beat Rock Island in straight sets 27-25, 25-13.
QHS coach Tim Hill said it wasn't poor play that sunk his team in against the Maroons.
"Today Moline played better," he said. "It showe dus a lot about how we need to raise our game to compete in the WB6. I think next time around we can give them a run for their money."
Emma Sparrow had 10 kills and four digs against Moline, while Lexi Wolf had seven kills and two digs.
In the win against Rock Island, Sparrow again showed out with nine kills and two digs, and Chloe Moore had four blocks.
"We set goals of how we wanted to play and the girls met them," Hill said. "Our serving was great, we didn't miss a single first serve the entire match and that helped us excel, especially in the second set."
