Monroe City teen injured in crash east of Middle Grove

MIDDLE GROVE, Mo. -- A Monroe City teen was injured in two-vehicle crash Thursday morning east of Middle Grove.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said that a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo driven by a 16-year-old male from Monroe City was traveling east on Route M, 3 miles east of Middle Grove, at 7:38 a.m. The patrol said the vehicle crossed the center line and struck the trailer of a 1998 Freightliner Conventional driven by Andrew K. Bess, 30, of Paris.

The 16-year-old, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by private vehicle to Hannibal Regional Hospital with moderate injuries.

The patrol was assisted by the Madison Fire Department, Monroe County Sheriff's Department and Monroe County Ambulance.
