CARTHAGE, Ill. -- The Illini West volleyball team is on the verge of a monumental achievement. Should the Chargers reach it, they will be playing for a regional championship.
Illini West wrapped up the regular season Thursday night with a 25-22, 25-20 victory over North Fulton, improving to 29-6 overall. The Chargers will open play in the Class 2A Rushville Regional at 6:30 p.m. against either West Hancock or Rushville-Industry with the chance to reach the 30-victory plateau for the first time in program history.
Ava Bliss led Illini West with 10 kills, while Taylor Pence had 12 service points, 17 digs and four aces. Alisza LeMaire had 16 digs, and Karli Artman finished with 22 assists.
Indians reach 20 victories
The Payson Seymour volleyball team created a little momentum for the postseason with a 25-14, 25-15 victory over Liberty to improve to 20-15 overall. Amanda Maiers led the Indians with 10 kills. Carly Wolf and Abby Coonrod each had seven kills. Kaylee Burgess added 24 assists for Payson, while Livia Perry had 15 digs.
Pirates can't complete rally
The Hannibal volleyball team rebounded after losing the first to set to Troy Buchanan, but suffered a 29-19, 20-25, 25-16 loss. Abby Baumann had 11 kills and 12 digs for the Pirates, while Kaylee Falconer had 21 assists and 10 digs and Bella Falconer had four kills and nine digs.
Hornets stumble in three sets
The Brown County volleyball team struggled to maintain momentum from a first-set victory, losing 18-25, 25-16, 25-17 to Beardstown. Kaci McKeon led the Hornets with 16 digs, while Katey Flynn had six kills and three aces, Madi Henry had six kills and Kacy Dunlap dished out 10 assists.

Panthers fall in straight sets
The Central volleyball team couldn't contend with Monmouth-Roseville's size at the net, losing 25-15, 25-23. The Panthers led 20-19 in the second set before the Titans scored six of the final nine points.
Saukees, Wolves win in tourney
The Pittsfield volleyball team outlasted Western 25-19, 23-25, 15-13 in the Pike County Conference Tournament at Voshall Gym. Katie Cox and Chloe Lemons led the Saukees with nine kills apiece, while Josie Marable had 24 assists.
In the other match, Pleasant Hill defeated Griggsville-Perry 25-21, 25-18. Mya Kettelan had three kills, four service points and two blocks for the Tornadoes, while Sophie Bennett added four aces and two digs.
