Your Turn

Your Turn/Gary DeClue

When I was a kid, I wanted to be ... a St. Louis Cardinal and a singer-guitar player like Elvis Presley.

What would you rather be doing right now? Lawn and garden work.

Shhhhhh! Don't tell anyone that ... I love to watch and participate in boxing.

Other than your wedding day and/or the birth of your children, what was your proudest moment? Watching the Mary Ellen Orr Auditorium being built after lobbying hard and planning for the facility.

It really stinks when ... I say or do stupid things.

What word in the dictionary would your face be next to? Silly.

I always laugh when ... I watch or play with dogs and cats.

Invite any three people, living or dead, to dinner. Who are they? Muhammad Ali because of the way he carried himself in and out of the ring. Abraham Lincoln and Stephen A. Douglas, so that I could learn more about them and the issues they faced and represented.

At the end of a really long day at work, I like to ... relax in the yard and cook outdoors.

People who knew me in high school thought I was ... shy. They were right.

My most unforgettable brush with greatness was ... I have been so fortunate to have shaken the hands of a number of major league players and have opened for, and/or played on stage with, Nashville music artists.

I would drop all my plans tonight if I had the chance to ... try to hit a major league slider, or drive an Indy car or a Formula 1 car.

If someone gave me a million dollars, there is STILL no way I would ... quit taking care of my Mom.

America should be more concerned about ... honesty, especially in the political and academic arenas.

I'm OK if there's ever a national shortage of ... guitars. I probably own too many.

When I'm on the internet, I always go to ... news sites.

What is the most useful piece of advice you have ever received? As a natural born worrier, Mom and Dad always told me not to worry so much.

When I'm cruising down the road, I'm likely listening to ... some form of talk radio, especially KMOX.

I always get sentimental when ... I am with family and friends.

The older I get, the more I realize ... how much I love children.

If I had one "do-over," I would ... have practiced music much, much more.

My favorite item of clothing is ... my Stephen A. Douglas costume. I love history.

If I've learned anything at all ... it is much more rewarding to contribute than to remain passive.
