QUINCY -- Patrick Hotle, a history professor at Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo., will give a program on Civil War history at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at the History Museum on the Square, 332 Maine.
Hotle's talk is titled: "American Civil War Military History in a Wider Context."
The event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Historical Society of Quincy and Adams County.
Hotle will discuss the accuracy of the premise that the American Civil War is viewed -- from a military perspective -- as a turning point in the development of modern warfare and that it also served as a "dress rehearsal" for World War I.
Hotle has a doctorate degree in history and a master's degree in international relations. He teaches European and Latin American history.
