Deer hunter taken to hospital after shooting

QUINCY -- A 26-year-old male deer hunter was taken by helicopter on Sunday to Blessing Hospital after being shot in the upper thigh during a recent hunt.

Authorities say that his injuries are non-life threatening and that he is in stable condition. His name was not released.

Adams County Sheriff Brian VonderHaar reports that the shooting happened near North 200th and East 2350th roads in rural Adams County.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has taken over the investigation. The Adams County Sheriff's office was assisted at the scene by the Pike County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police, Liberty Fire Department, Barry Fire Department and Adams County Ambulance Service.
