Two Hannibal residents arrested as part of narcotics investigation

HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Two Hannibal residents were arrested Saturday as part of an ongoing investigation into narcotics distribution.

Arrested were Anthony D. Essig, 41, on a charge of distribution of a controlled substance and Lisa D. Scheibel, 47, on charges of hindering prosecution and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

The Hannibal Police Department said officers with the Anti-Crime Enforcement Squad went to a residence in the 2000 block of Chestnut where they gained consent for a known suspect. Police said they found Essig hiding in a shower.

Essig was a subject of a distribution of methamphetamine distribution and a warrant had been issued in Marion County Circuit Court.

Essing is being held in the Marion County Jail on $50,000 bond, cash or surety. Scheibel was released pending review by the Marion County prosecuting attorney's office.
