DEERFIELD, Ill. -- A state program has recognized students at 14 West-Central Illinois high schools for outstanding academic achievement.
The Illinois Student Assistance Commission's 2020-21 Illinois State Scholars perform in the top 10% of their high school class at the end of the third semester prior to graduation, typically the end of the junior year, and/or score at or above the 95th percentile on the ACT or SAT.

Standardized test scores and performance-based academic data reported by high schools are key factors in the formula used to determine eligibility. High school counselors must provide either the sixth semester class rank, if the school ranks, or the unweighted grade point average, if the school does not rank.
State scholar designation provides honorary recognition and a congratulatory letter from ISAC with no monetary award.
ISAC provides students of all ages and backgrounds with resources and support to help get financial aid for higher education.
