MARBLEHEAD, Ill. -- A Quincy man faces charges after a Monday night crash south of Marblehead.

The Adams County Sheriff's Department said that a 2001 Ford F-150 driven by Timothy Smith, 46, of Quincy, and a 2000 Ford Ranger driven by Rebecca Nutt, 51, of Mendon, were traveling south on Ill. 57, going through Marblehead, at 11:07 p.m. The department said the vehicle driven by Smith was operating recklessly and struck the vehicle driven by Nutt, then continued south until it ran off the road and hit a tree just north of E900th.

Smith, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Adams County Ambulance to Blessing Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. His vehicle was towed from the scene.

Smith was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, reckless driving, no insurance and failure to reduce speed.

Nutt, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured, and her vehicle was driven from the scene.

The department was assisted by Payson Fire Department and Adams County Ambulance.
