Rollie and Dolores Thomas of Quincy are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary. The Thomas family will be joining the couple for 10:30 a.m. Mass at St. Anthony's Catholic Church on Sun., Feb. 2, where the couple will receive a blessing. Friends are invited to join the family for Mass. Their children will host a private lunch with the family afterwards.
Mr. Thomas and the former Dolores Greving were married Feb. 5, 1955, at St. Francis Church, Quincy. They met the day that Rollie hit a foul ball while playing baseball for Quincy College and nearly took Dee's head off. He approached her after the game to apologize, and the rest is history!
Rollie is a son of the late Rollie and Frances Thomas of St. Louis, Mo. Dolores is a daughter of the late Clement and Emma Greving of Quincy.
They are the parents of Terri (Phil) Schonhoff of Ellettsville, Ind., the late Antonia Thomas, Rollie (Connie) Thomas Jr. of Quincy, Vicki (JR) Decker of Ft. Meyers, Fla., Jim (Kris) Thomas of Quincy, Tim (Jane) Thomas of Springfield, Ill., Mark (Christe) Thomas of Quincy, and Lori (Pete) Khazen of St. Louis, Mo. They have 27 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Rollie worked at Gardner Denver and retired from MetLife. He enjoyed working with his MetLife clients all around the bi-state area until his retirement a few years ago. He loves vacationing at the family cabin in Minnesota, and enjoys visiting with their large family, especially his sister Marcella, now living in Quincy.
Dolores is a homemaker, a longtime volunteer at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, a member of the quilting club at St. Anthony's, and participates in many areas of service at the church. She loves vacationing at the family cabin in Minnesota and is still hosting holiday meals for the BIG Thomas family.
They both enjoy watching their grandkids and great-grandkids play sports and all their other activities.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas are members of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
