MARSHALL, Mo. -- The magnificent month of January continued for the Culver-Stockton women's basketball team on Monday night.
The Wildcats picked up their sixth straight victory and ninth win in the last 10 games with a 79-59 dismantling of Missouri Valley in Heart of America Athletic Conference play.
C-SC has only lost once since Dec. 14, and in that time the Wildcats have gone from a 6-6 record to 14-7 and fourth place in the Heart with a 10-5 conference record.
Complimentary offense and defense helped the Wildcats build an early lead on Missouri Valley (3-15, 2-13 Heart). C-SC held the Vikings to 32 points in the first half, including just 13 in the second quarter.
At halftime the Wildcats held an eight point lead, and that quickly ballooned to 24 in the third quarter as they outscored Missouri Valley 24-8. C-SC scored nine points off turnovers and eight second-chance points in the third to burry the Vikings.
The Wildcats led by as many as 30 points and held the lead for 36 of 40 minutes.
Ryan Dooley and Ashley Nelson each scored 13 points to lead the Wildcats, while Taylor Green, Payton Curley and Courteney Sailor each had 12 points. Sailor also eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for her career in the victory.
