Prep wrestling roundup: Pirates fall in final home triangular

HANNIBAL, Mo. -- The Hannibal wrestling team hosted Fort Zumwalt North and Centralia on Thursday for its final home triangular of the season.

The Pirates first match was against Fort Zumwalt North, which defeated Hannibal 53-22. Four of Fort Zumwalt's wins were due to forfeits.

Hannibal did win four matches against Fort Zumwalt, with Shawn Smashey (106 lbs.), Mason Hudson (138 lbs.), Tyler Hardy (145 lbs.) and Gavin Morawitz (152 lbs.) earning wins.

In the second match, Centralia defeated Hannibal 63-18. Hannibal won three matches against Centralia, with Morawitz, Trevor Wilson (160 lbs.) and Kameron Foust (170 lbs.) earning victories.

Morawitz was the only Hannibal wrestler to win both of his matches, which were both won by falls. He defeated Fort Zumwalt's Brady O'Neal and Centralia's Khader Saleh.

BEARDSTOWN, Ill.

Raiders fall in wrestling dual

The Quincy Notre Dame wrestling team fell to Beardstown 51-30 in a dual Thursday night.

Curtis Steinkamp at 106 pounds, Catherine Steinkamp at 113, Hunter Bolton at 120 and Sam Schlegl at 160 all earned pin fall victories for the Raiders. Both Curtis Steinkamp and Bolton picked up their pins in the first period, while Schlegl's came in the second period and Catherine Steinkamp's came in the third period.
