OSKALOOSA, Iowa -- The 10-game winning streak for the Culver-Stockton College women's basketball team came to a close on Wednesday with a 68-63 defeat at the hands of William Penn in Heart of America Athletic Conference play.
The Wildcats (18-8, 14-6 Heart) cracked the NAIA national rankings at No. 23 earlier Wednesday, their first time in the rankings since the 1998-1999 season.
Through three quarters, it seemed the winning streak would continue for C-SC. The Wildcats held a 44-36 advantage heading to the fourth quarter, but William Penn outscored C-SC 32-19 in the fourth quarter to pull off the victory.
The Wildcats shot 44 percent from the floor and 38 percent from behind the 3-point line, while the Statesmen were 43 percent from the floor and behind the arc. Carly Harper scored 17 points to pace C-SC, while Ryan Dooley had 13 points and Payton Curley finished with 11. Oliva Usher led William Penn with 16 points and Autumn Voigt had 14.
