Three injured in crash east of Monroe City

MONROE CITY, Mo. -- A two-vehicle crash Thursday morning east of Monroe City left three people with minor injuries.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said that a 1997 Toyota Rav4 driven by Kimberly R. Hancock, 58, of Monroe City, was traveling east on Route J at Juniper, 4 miles east of Monroe City, at 11:59 a.m. The patrol said the vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a northbound 2014 Ford Escape driven by Donald E. Gough, 78, of Perry.

Gough and a passenger, Martha L. Gough, 77, of Perry, were taken by Monroe County Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital with minor injuries. Hancock was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

All three were wearing seat belts, the patrol said.

The patrol was assisted by the Ralls County Sheriff's Department and Monroe City Fire Department.
