STANFORD, Ill. -- Central senior Clayton Boehler was on a mission.

Boehler started day two of the Class 1A Stanford Olympia Sectional on the back side of the 160-pound bracket after suffering a loss to second-ranked Ty Baxter from LeRoy in the championship quarterfinals on Friday. Boehler came out strong in his first match with a pin of Chillicothe IVC's Mike Arnold in 58 seconds, then he pinned Oakwood Fithian's Tate Johnson in 1 minute to reach the blood round.

Only Quincy Notre Dame's Sam Schlegl stood in Boehler's way of a second state tournament appearance. Boehler didn't pin Schlegl, but he won an 11-1 major decision to reach the third-place match.

In the consolation finals, Boehler returned to his pinning ways with a pin of Mercer County's Seth Speaker in 3:02.

Three other Panthers wrestled in the consolation round but fell short of a state appearance. At 126, Zach Foote picked up an 8-4 decision over Mercer County's Noah Miller in the first consolation round, then in the consolation quarterfinals Foote defeated Chillicothe IVC's Mitchell Connor by pin in 3:08.

Foote came up one win shy of a state appearance, falling in the consolation semifinals to Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley's Cale Horsch by an 8-5 decision.

At 132, Conner Hughes won his first consolation match for Central by a second period pin over Prairie Central's Christian Fever. Hughes lost in the consolation quarterfinals to Ridgeview's Billy Tay by a pin in 3:06.

At 113, Hunter Louderback lost his first consolation match by first period pin to St. Thomas More's Jason Palmberg.

Schlegl had two chances to punch his ticket to the state tournament but came up empty both times. Before his loss to Boehler in the blood round, Schlegl was pinned late in the third period by Dwight's Cade Enerson in the championship semifinals.

Curtis Steinkamp won his first consolation match at 106 for the Raiders with a second period pin of Clifton Central's Brayden Morris, but in the consolation quarterfinals, Steinkamp lost 3-2 to Canton's Trevor Hodges.

At 120, Hunter Bolton lost his first consolation match to Petersburg PORTA's Clayton Miller by a third-period pin.

Illini West's Lance Belshaw fell in his first consolation match at 145 by a pin in 5:26 to Mercer County's Carson Tippie, and West Hancock's Jeremiah Cote was pinned in the first period of his first consolation match at 182 by Oakwood Fithian's Colby Smiley.
