Prep roundup: Boehler eliminated one round short of a medal

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- A final chance to earn a state medal sat before Central senior Clayton Boehler, but first he had to face the blood round.

Boehler won twice on Friday in the Class 1A 160-pound consolation round to earn his way into the consolation quarterfinals, but his luck ran out as he was pinned by Argenta's Makail Stanley in 3 minutes, 22 seconds.

Stanley went on to win the fifth place match.

Indians wrap up regular season with win

The Payson Seymour boys basketball team used a dominant third quarter to pull away for an 86-53 victory over Griggsville-Perry Saturday.

The Indians led 40-26 at halftime before outscoring the Tornadoes 27-14 during third quarter.

Cole Schwartz led Payson -- ranked No. 6 in Class 1A -- with 34 points, while Hayden Hildebrand and Logan Sparks added 12 points apiece. Lucas Loos had a triple double of 11 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists for the Indians (29-2). Payson finished with 17 3-pointers.

Tanner Leedy led Griggsvile with 18 points.
