QUINCY — A dispatcher at the Quincy/Adams County 911 Center was arrested Monday evening on a charge of distribution of child pornography.

Sidney D. Shackleton, 30, of 1630 Monroe, was arrested at his home on a felony arrest warrant.

The Quincy Police Department said an investigation started in January after one of Shackleton’s social media accounts was flagged for possible child exploitive material. In February, Shackleton was interviewed by detectives with the department and investigators with the Illinois attorney general’s office, and his home was searched.

Because of a conflict of interest in the case, the Adams County state’s attorney’s office requested that a special prosecutor from the Illinois Office of the State’s Attorney Appellate Prosecutor handle the case.

911 Director Jessica Douglas said she could not comment on Shackleton’s employment status as it was a personnel matter, but said the center is cooperating with the Quincy Police Department and the state’s attorney’s office.

Court records show that Shackleton was released after posting $20,000 bond. He is set to return to court June 16.
