CARTHAGE, Ill. -- The Carthage Park District pool has opened for recreational swimming.

Pool hours are from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Daily admission is $4 for adults and $3 for children aged 3 to 17. Season passes are $65 for an individual and $150 for a family of five. Punch cards, available for $50, offer 25 admissions.

"We're trying to keep it to around 50 people in the pool area," said Chris Talley, a park district commissioner. "We do have a reservation system online at the park district website. That way we can track how many people say they're coming, and we have people sign in."

Swimmers may come without a reservation, but the park district cannot guarantee admission. Swimmers may be asked to leave or wait until space becomes available.

The pool also offers adult lap swim time -- 11 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday at a cost of $40 for the season or $4 per visit -- along with group and private swimming lessons, a Mommy and me class and water aerobics.

Private pool parties and events are available by appointment at a cost of $150 for two hours with a $25 non-refundable deposit.
