Arns and Willing sweep men's city doubles round robin

QUINCY -- Ethan Arns is showing some great chemistry with one of his newest recruits.

The Quincy University tennis coach teamed with Zach Willing to win three doubles this matches this weekend and sweep the men's open round robin in the Quincy Tennis Association doubles tournament.

After defeating Dave Santos and Todd Willing 6-1, 6-2 on Friday night, Arns and the younger Willing took down the duo of Noah Aschemann and Jeff Zellerman 6-3, 6-4 and Allan Atkins and Ryan Schnack 6-3, 6-1 on Saturday. Santos and Todd Willing had the second best record, owning victories over Aschemann and Zellerman (6-3, 6-3) and Atkins and Schnack (6-4, 7-6).

On the women's side, Theresa Quintero and Monica Hinkamper took home the open championship by defeating Lia Quintero and Jamie Steinkamp 6-2, 6-0 in the semifinals and Cindy Crist and Heidi Holzgrafe 6-3, 6-2 in the finals.

In other results: Tim and Mike O'Neal defeated John Baird and Tom Deters 6-1, 6-3 for the championship in the legends division; Tom Taylor and Bob Soltys took home the championship in the men's 3.5 division with a 7-6, 7-5 victory over Mike Peterson and Chao Wang; Maook Cucuk and Caleb Vonderheide won the men's 4.0 division with a 6-1, 6-4 defeat of Drew Koester and Will Meckes; and Paige Beckler and Audra Cain won the women's 3.5 division with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Emily Klinner and Amelia Willing.
