Truck/tractor pull set for July 4 at Adams County Fairgrounds
The Mendon Lions Club is sponsoring a truck and tractor pull in memory of Daryl Stoll at 11:30 a.m. July 4 at the Adams County Fairgrounds. There are 10 classes offered -- 11,500 farm stock, 12,500 farm stock, 10,000 pro farm, 9,500 pro farm, 8,500 open, 6,200 pro street, 6,200 pro stock, 5,200 classic mod, 5,700 classic mod and 6,500 mod 4x4. The event is a sanctioned IFPA pull with the Heartland Garden Tractor Pullers. Food and drinks are available. QHS wrestlers holding golf fundraiser July 15
A golf outing to raise money for the Quincy High School wrestling program will be held July 15 at Arrowhead Heights Golf Course in Camp Point. Four-man teams will play an 18-hole scramble format. The shotgun start begins at 11 a.m. The cost to play is $240 per team. First place in the A flight will win $300. First place in the B flight will win golf prizes. Optimist Grand set for July 16
The Quincy Optimist Club will hold its third annual Grand tournament on July 16 at Westview Golf Course in Quincy. The Grand is a two-person 9-hole scramble golf tournament with one adult age 18 and over and one child age 17 and under. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with tee-off at 9 a.m. The entry fee is $10 for the child and $30 for the adult. The fee covers greens fees, cart, drinks, prizes and lunch. Cross Over Hoops camp to be July 16-17 at QU
Cross Over Hoops is having a basketball camp for boys and girls July 16-17 at Quincy University. Girls in grades 6-8 will go from 8-10:30 a.m. Boys in grades 6-8 will go from 10:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Girls in grades 9-12 will go from 2:15-4:45 p.m. Boys and girls in grades 3-5 will go from 5-6:30 p.m. Boys in grades 9-12 will go from 7:30-10 p.m. The cost is $40 for grades 3-5 and $60 for grades 6-12. A putting contest will be held with an opportunity to win $10,000. First practices for Quincy Junior High School teams set
Information packets for students at Quincy Junior High School who are interested in playing softball, baseball, football and cross country are available for pickup at the Board of Education Office (1416 Maine) and the Quincy High School athletic office (3322 Maine). Once the paperwork is filled out, packets can be turned back in to the QHS Athletic Office or the Board of Education office. All paperwork must be completed and submitted before a student may start practice.
º 7th/8th grade football: A mandatory parent/player meeting is set for 6 p.m. July 23 in the Quincy Junior High School auditorium. Practices start at 6 p.m. August 6 at the QJHS athletic field.
º 7th/8th grade baseball: Practices start at 3 p.m. July 30 at the QJHS athletic field.
º 7th/8th grade softball: Practices start at 8 a.m. July 23 at the QHS softball field.
º 6th/7th/8th grade cross country: Practices start at 8 p.m. July 31 at Bob Mays Park.
º 7th/8th grade golf: A parent meeting will be held at 4 p.m. August 23 in the QJHS cafeteria. A tryout tournament will be played at 9 a.m. Aug. 25 at Westview Golf Course. Golf packets will be available for pickup on Aug. 7.

QND boys soccer camp set for July 23-26
The Quincy Notre Dame soccer camp for boys in grades K-6 will be from July 23-26 at Advance Physical Therapy Field. The camp will run from 6:30-8 p.m. each night. The cost of the camp is $30. The cost of a camp T-shirt is $10. Players are asked to bring a ball and water. Registration for the camp begins at 5:45 p.m. on July 23.
QU baseball program to hold showcase camps
The Quincy University baseball program will hold its summer showcase camps on July 31 and Aug. 1 at QU Stadium. The camp is open to all high school players who will graduate between 2019 and 2022 and any unsigned 2018 graduates. The camp includes a pro-style workout, including games with coaches and recruiting coordinators from every level of baseball in the Midwest. The cost for the camp is $125, which includes lunch. The United States Soccer Federation referee program will hold an officiating clinic Aug. 4-5 at Quincy Notre Dame for anyone who wants to become an official.
