QUINCY — The Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Midwest Fish Co-Op and Sorce Freshwater are teaming up to host a series of cookouts this weekend featuring Asian carp samples.
Asian carp are an invasive species that has taken hold in the Mississippi and Illinois rivers. IDNR hope that the free tastings will encourage more people to fish the species to help keep down the population and more restaurants to serve Asian carp dishes.
In Quincy, diners at the Red Light Bar and Grill, 428 Maine, diners will be able to order Asian carp sliders from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. The sliders also will be a daily special at the restaurant next week.
