Two injured in motorcycle-truck accident at Luray, Mo.

LURAY, Mo. -- A Lancaster husband and wife were seriously injured at 5:46 p.m. Thursday when their motorcycle was struck in the rear by a pickup truck on U.S. 136 at Luray.

Steven E. Tallman, 51, and Carla J. Tallman, 48, were taken by Air Evac to the University of Iowa Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa, for treatment.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Steven Tallman was driving a 2012 Can Am motorcycle east on U.S. 136 and had stopped to make a left turn when the motorcycle was struck in the rear by an eastbound 1995 Dodge Dakota pickup truck driven by Nicholas J. Hays, 20, of Ottumwa, Iowa. The motorcycle caught fire and both the Tallmans were ejected.

Both the Tallmans were wearing helmets. Hays, who was not injured, was wearing a seat belt.

Assisting were the Clark County Sheriff's Department, Clark and Scotland County Ambulance, Clark County Rescue Squad, Kahoka and Wyaconda fire departments.
