A semi-truck hauling sewage overturned Thursday morning on Lock and Dam Road, requiring emergency crews to extract the driver.

Crews got Richard L. Emery, 59, of Quincy, out of the 2000 International truck cab, and he was transported to Blessing Hospital with minor injuries. The accident occurred just after 11 a.m. today. Emery was driving for Environmental Management Corp.

The Adams County Sheriff's Department reported Emery was going too fast around a curve and the vehicle overturned. The accident happened about 100 feet from Blick's Village Road.

City workers assisted with the cleanup of sewage that leaked from the hauler following the accident.

Also assisting at the scene were the Tri-Township Fire Department and Illinois State Police.
